The History Factory team believes at its core that diversity, equity and inclusion are foundational to our vision of working with the world’s best enterprises to make history infinitely useful in pursuing their missions.

Continuing to create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive History Factory is critical to advancing our mission – not only with regards to the team and environment we seek to build and nurture – but also the clients we seek to work with and the results we aim to achieve.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are commitments that we take to heart. As a Corporate Signatory of the Diversity Action Alliance, we have taken the oath to impACT diversity, equity and the culture of inclusion.

Below are our company’s commitments organized by culture, talent, partnerships, and community. Our executive team is committed to building a sustainably diverse workforce and has key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive these initiatives forward and track our progress.

  • Culture

Recruitment: History Factory has ensured that we recruit new talent from diverse sources. This includes job boards specifically driven to deliver minority candidates (3% Jobs, Creative Guild, #blkcreatives, & City Tech). This summer (2023), we’re also launching partnerships with local colleges and universities, including HBCUs (Howard University, UDC).

Employee Retention: We have refined our employee retention goals and metrics to ensure that we have insight into what groups of individuals are leaving the organization at a marked increase versus standard turnover. This includes people of color turnover vs. standard, women turnover vs. standard, and LGBTQ+ turnover vs. standard. Having these data points is critical to ensure we are living up to our DE&I commitment.

Employee Benefits: We want to instill a work environment where employees have access to the right resources in order to thrive in the workplace. For example, we enacted an unlimited PTO policy as of January 2023, understanding that employee needs vary based on life circumstances. We’ve also improved health insurance benefits and company contributions, established a more equitable 401k program, and implemented a family leave program.

  • Talent

Equal Opportunity Employer: History Factory is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer. We do not discriminate based upon race, religion, color, national origin, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, reproductive health decisions, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, genetic information, political views or activity, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.

  • Partnerships

Supplier Policy: History Factory makes efforts to use suppliers of goods and services that reflect a diverse range of underrepresented backgrounds. We are also committed to ensuring we partner with organizations that have committed themselves to DE&I by asking all suppliers with whom we exchange >$100,000 to describe their policy on DE&I before engaging with them.

Supplier Relationships: We pursue supplier relationships that reflect our vision, mission and values with the expectation that our suppliers will deliver on their commitments and adhere to the quality and standards of our DE&I policies.

  • Community

Environmental Commitments: We recognize that even as a small business we have an obligation to be environmentally responsible. We’re actively researching and identifying carbon offsetting opportunities.

Pro Bono Work/Volunteerism: History Factory has a long track record of pro bono work for clients that capture the values of our organization and allow our staff to contribute in a meaningful way to better themselves and those around them.
