Even though we’ve been there, done that, we wanted to make sure that our thoughts and impressions about the current state of corporate archives were on track. So we sent out a survey to collect the data for ourselves.
What we learned mostly didn’t surprise us, although some of it did. For example, only 15% of survey respondents feel it’s “very easy” to access their archival material. That’s not ideal for any organization hoping to have a successful program.
Other findings proved our intuition was right on the money: digitization, data security and protection, and access to archives are imposing challenges for decision-makers, corporate archivists, and archives users, respectively.
